 Known to her loyal subjects as Her Royal Highness Queen Linda of Lakewood, Linda Marie Ford is the founder and ruler of It’s Good To Be The Queen, an international web based party of thousands of moms who celebrate and support each other as they face the challenges of raising responsible, respectful men.
While attending the University of Oklahoma, Ford never envisioned being a boy wrangler. After graduating in 1986 with a BFA in Drama she moved to Manhattan where she was a better bartender than employed actress. After pounding the pavement, performing in a few shows, and doing stand up comedy Ford moved to Dallas in 1990, got married and became immersed in the vibrant theater community. Represented by Kim Dawson Agency Ford is a recognizable voice over talent as well as a commercial and industrial performer. Her first son, Timothy, was born in 1992. In 1996 infant amnesia, a startling phenomenon that wipes out all memory of dealing with an infant thus allowing the human race to continue, overtook her and Matthew was born. While lugging boy #2 around in a baby Bjorn Ford co-founded Echo Theatre, an award winning feminist theater company. After realizing there was enough love her castle for one more, Christopher was born in October of 2001.
In April of 2002, drowning in testosterone by this time, she hosted a brunch for twenty women who also had “boys-only” homes. The celebration was a success marked by moms asking each other for advice and trading war stories. Soon after Ford gave birth to her 4th baby -It’s Good To Be The Queen. The celebration to mark the launch of the website was covered by The Dallas Morning News. Since then the Queendom has been featured in the Ladies’ Home Journal and Pregnancy magazines, daily papers from the Anchorage Daily News to the New York Democrat and Chronicle and most recently my essay, “Majestic Moms”, is being considered for Chicken Soup for the Mothers of Sons Soul which has a release date of April 4, 2006. She continues to raise her boys while reigning over the Queendom.
